THAMANI for Women and Youth Development Initiative is a Nigerian, grassroots-focused non-governmental organisation committed to advancing women and youth inclusion, civic participation, leadership, peacebuilding, education, gender justice, economic resilience and community development.
Established in 2020 and registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission as an Incorporated Trustee in 2023, THAMANI works primarily across Northern Nigeria in partnership with communities, government institutions, civil society organisations, youth networks, women-led groups, traditional and religious institutions, and development partners.
We seek to build empowered, inclusive and resilient communities where women and young people are active drivers of social change, accountable governance, peace and sustainable development.

Our work is grounded in the belief that lasting change is achieved when communities have the knowledge, platforms, resources and agency to identify and address the challenges affecting them.
Since its inception, THAMANI has worked at the intersection of grassroots mobilisation, capacity strengthening, policy advocacy, community organising and social innovation.
Using participatory and rights-based approaches, we strengthen community leadership, expand civic and economic opportunities, promote social cohesion and influence public policy. We place strong emphasis on locally owned solutions, evidence-based advocacy, digital engagement and approaches that can be sustained beyond individual projects.
